Influence of hydrogeological conditions on presence of virulent genes in human-sourced microbial contamination of surface and groundwater in lower Gangetic basin: Implications to sanitation and safe drinking water
Dr. Uttiya Dey is an environmental microbiologist, worked as Post-doctoral fellow (SERB-NPDF, 2017-2019) on Influence of hydrogeological conditions on presence of virulent genes in human-sourced microbial contamination of surface and groundwater in lower Gangetic basin at School of Environmental Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. She has graduated from the University of Burdwan in Environmental science and did her M.Sc. in Environmental science from the same university where she secured first position and was awarded gold medal for being university topper. She did her Ph.D. from the University of Burdwan on bioremediation of arsenic by arsenic-resistant bacteria, by availing DST-INSPIRE Fellowship. She has an expertise on isolation and biochemical characterization of bacteria from soil and water and also development of microbial bioremediation technology to decontaminate water. She is eager to build her academic career in the field of environmental microbiology through continuous study and research.
